Mark is an energetic and motivated dentist, and the newest addition to our team at Avenue Dental Caloundra. Mark has spent six months in Nambour, followed by six months in Dalby, treating all age groups and undertaking a full range of dental treatment. It was during Mark’s stay at Dalby that he decided he much preferred the Sunshine Coast, and he has recently moved to Caloundra with his partner Davina and their cat, Charky. Although both Mark and Davina love the water, they are still trying to get Charky to come to terms with it!

Mark has undertaken several oral health promotional programs within the community, focussing on groups such as pre-school children, those affected by mental illness, and those affected by homelessness. Additionally, Mark worked as a dentist at an aboriginal health centre during his stay in Dalby, focussing on improving the oral health of both adults and children within this community. Because of his extensive experience in working with children and teenagers, and his passion for oral health promotion, we have decided Mark was the perfect candidate to both promote and educate Sunshine Coast families about the importance of child and teen oral health, and to look after our patients who are eligible for the new Child Dental Benefits Schedule. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule will commence on January 1^st 2014, and will provide families on government concessions such as ‘Family Tax Benefit A’ with up to $1000 in dental treatment for each child aged from 2-17.

My aim is to provide preventative and early dental care for children in order to set them up with a full set of healthy teeth for life. Every day I see anxious adult patients, and upon talking with them I find this anxiety usually stems from a negative dental experience during their childhood. I feel very passionately about providing a positive dental experience to all my patients, and about focussing on minimal and preventative treatment in order to prevent expensive and potentially more traumatic dental treatment later in life!”

At Avenue Dental Caloundra we will be bulk billing the Child Dental Benefits Schedule at the government set prices to provide treatment at no cost to our patients.
